Eco-friendly Activities Meets Music Festival

Operation Adaption Strives to Bring Good Things Together

As the end of another semester draws closer to sun, fun, and warm temperatures, my daydreams become more of a reality. The first two things that come to mind when picturing summers in Milwaukee are trips to the beach and the eleven day music festival, Summerfest.

My eagerness for Summerfest's arrival elevates as it grows closer each day. Recently, I discovered Operation Adaption, a weekend long music festival not only supplying two days packed full of amazing music, but also using the music as a medium to join people together in support of environmentally friendly activities.

The entire stage will be powered by eight people riding stationary bikes. This includes everything from the instruments to the lights. In addition, one tree will be planted for every ticket sold, corn-based dishes and utensils are to be used, and recycling will be fully enforced.

This hidden treasure is located conveniently just 45 minutes away from Milwaukee in Sullivan, Wisconsin. It is set to take place April 18-19. What perfect timing! Operation Adaption is definitely an event that can help alleviate some of the anticipation for other Summerfest fans.

The festival will feature Willy Porter, Chinese Fingertrap, and Fat Maw Rooney, who have been recognized by Billboard Magazine, Tori Amos, and other popular names. Other musical talents who will be entertaining the crowds are as follows:

  • Cosmic Railroad
  • Groovatron
  • Bryan CherrySummerfest
  • Unity the Band
  • Runside Down
  • Heatbox
  • Family Groove Company
  • Sean Shiel
  • Pert Near Sandstone
  • Stealing Strings

Operation Adaption is truly a unique idea and should be a hit that will become a tradition for many who are extreme "go-greeners" or even those simply going for the music. Either way, anyone in attendance will be doing something excellent for our planet while having an unforgettable time.

Will this girl group make a comeback?

An event to get excited for...

After being broken up for just over six years, rumors of a long awaited reunion tour for the 90's all girl group, the Spice Girls, have been floating around the media. Concert details would be later discussed after the birth of Emma Bunton's first child in this upcoming summer.

Timeline of events:

  • July 1996 - The groups first album, "Spice," makes it debut.
  • June 1997- Filming of the group's movie, "Spiceworld," begins.
  • November 1997- The Spice Girls record their second album, "Spiceworld."
  • February 1998- The Spiceworld tour begins in Dublin, Ireland.
  • May 1998- Geri Halliwell leaves the group.
  • December 1998- The single, "Goodbye," is released and becomes their third consecutive Chirstmas number one.
  • November 2000- The final album, "Forever," is released.

It's not going to be cheap...
The tour is expected to come with a price. Their manager has been reported to be asking for at least $5 million per group member. On the up side, there has been speculation that the group will donate a portion of the proceeds to an undisclosed charity.
